Dalton Goodwill grand opening on Thursday; 18th location in greater Chattanooga area

A new Goodwill is coming to the Tennessee Valley! Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area will celebrate the grand opening of its store and Opportunity Center in Dalton on Thursday.

The celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony will be on April 11 at 8:30 a.m., with doors will opening at 9 a.m.

This will be the 18th retail store location and the second Opportunity Center location for Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area.

The location at 1001 Market Street includes a Goodwill retail store, a Donation Xpress center, and an Opportunity Center to help provide training, education, and employment for people in their 23-county territory in Tennessee and North Georgia.


  • Store hours: Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Donations accepted during regular store hours.
  • The Opportunity Center: Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We are especially excited to open our Dalton store because, along with the store, we are also opening another Opportunity Center,” said Gena Weldon, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area. “More than 85 cents of every dollar earned or received by Goodwill supports our mission. When people shop or donate at Goodwill, they are changing lives by helping to provide free job training and employment opportunities for our community’s most vulnerable citizens.”

Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area employs over 350 individuals, many of whom have barriers to employment.

Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area is hosting a forklift operator training course in conjunction with Sunbelt Rentals on Monday, April 28, through Thursday, May 1. The class will be held at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus at 6104 Preservation Dr. in Chattanooga. In addition to these types of training opportunities, the Goodwill Opportunity Campus and the two Opportunity Centers in Dalton and East Brainerd provide free employment services such as career assessments, job search support, employment readiness assistance, digital skills training, financial and nutritional education and resume and interview preparation.
