Goodwill’s mission is to empower people with disabilities and disadvantages to achieve their potential and to improve their quality of life.
Since 1923, we’ve been in the business of empowering people by teaching work skills, providing employment and developing habits that lead to continued employment. We provide a hand up, not a handout, to people who face a variety of barriers. Challenges might be mental, physical and emotional disabilities or other disadvantages such as a lack of education or a long absence from the working world.
Jobs Training & Placement
Since 1923, Chattanooga Goodwill Industries has been focused on helping people with disabilities and other barriers to employment find meaningful work opportunities so that they can achieve their full potential and participate in all aspects of a productive life.
HELPS - Medical Equipment
Goodwill’s Health Equipment Link Program services (HELPs) advances the safety, health and wellness, independence and quality of life of our most vulnerable citizens by collecting, repairing, sanitizing and providing needed durable medical equipment (DME) at no cost to individuals in need.
The idea for a furniture storehouse in Chattanooga to assist people in transition surfaced in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. By 2010, that idea became a reality. The first-year goal was to help 100 families. The actual number helped was more than 300.
Goodwill is committed to helping people change their lives through the power of work. We know that the impression a person makes during an interview is all-important. Goodwill will provide an outfit suitable for job interviews free of charge to a person who cannot afford to purchase the clothes.
Senior Community Service Employment Program
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) gives lower-income, mature adults (55 or older) opportunities to join or re-enter the workforce. This year (2015-2016), we will provide job-skills training for 125 individuals, including U.S. military Veterans, who will gain valuable workplace tools and benefit local non-profits and public agencies while they develop their work skills.
Technology is improving every day. Today’s computers are quickly leaving yesterday’s systems in the past — or in your closet, basement or attic. Dell has made it easy for you to recycle your used computer equipment through Dell Reconnect, a partnership with Goodwill Industries.
